Onkoterm is a simple intuitive and user-friendly, as well as safe and effective system designed for conducting regional intracavitary hyperthermic chemoperfusion. The system is considered to perform a complementary treatment to therapeutic methods of oncology treatment conducting such procedures as intraperitoneal and intrapleural hyperthermic chemoperfusion.

The equipment is designed for treatment of peritoneal carcinosis due to transcoelomic spread of malignant cancer cells originated from primary peritoneal malignancies or from visceral malignancies within the abdominal and pelvic cavities.

Regional intracavitary hyperthermic chemoperfusion method

The most effective treatment method for peritoneal carcinosis is cytoreductive surgery in combination with the subsequent chemoperfusion that can be performed by Onkoterm equipment.

        <p><b>The main feature of the given method is the combination of two factors:</b></p>
        <li>hyperthermic perfusion;</li>
        <li>intraperitoneal chemoperfusion.</li>

    Method advantages:

  • synergistic result of using high doses of chemotherapeutic agents (up to tenfold reincrease of standard dose intravenous introduction) and hyperthermia conduction (43–44 °C);
  • temperature uniformity within tissues/viscera;
  • the new level of medicine effectiveness;
  • some of the conducted researches claimed the increase of the apoptosis due to thermal impact;
  • hyperthermic impact causes the damage of membrane, cytoskeleton and malignant cell nuclei;
  • employing the temperatures exceeding 41 °C also causes the development of acidosis in the tumour cells (decrease of cellular pH level) decreasing the cell vitality and ability to integrate into the healthy cells;
  • hypoxia tends to develop within the internal area of malignancies (the cells that lack oxygen). The given cells are able to sustain radiation impact but they are very unsteady to thermal impact. Therefore, hyperthermia is considered to be an ideal complementary impact to radiation: the radiation kills oxidized cells outside the malignant mass, while hyperthermia impacts the cells that lack oxygen;
  • DNA conformation change;
  • DNA repair inhibition;
  • Advanced ingress of cytostatic medicine.

possibility to temporarily stop the circulation of perfusion solution within the patient’s cavity maintaining the perfusion parameters at the same level (t 0 °C, etc.).

5.Procedure data recording:

  • patient’s data and procedure data are recorded automatically in the equipment database;
  • data collected in the equipment database can be saved on the external medium via the embedded USB-port.
